BANKA PP-150 mk2 motor drill

Banka PP-150 mk 2 motor drill 8-inch The BANKA - PP 150 mk2 is mechanized drilling rig based on the percussion principle.

The casing used is the 4-inch, 6-inch or 8-inch Banka type, and the cable tools are the same design as those of the Banka drill, only longer.

Folding mast

Simple mast, easy and quick to rigg, partly by hand, partly by its own power. Its legs are normally spread apart at 3.30 m..
Hoisting capacity on first layer: 15 kN (1.5 ton).
Total load capacity: 30 kN ( 3.0 ton)
Free working height between ground level and top pulley approx.: 6.00 meters.

Hoisting winch

Percussion, to sink casing string, is performed by a free-fall winch driven by a diesel-engine. The winch is hand operated by the drillmaster through a combined hand-clutch and brake.

Hoisting speed with cable on first layer: 40 m/min., while line pull: 15 kN max.

Engines

Engine Model Power @ speed
Hatz diesel-engine Z-789-H 16.7 hp at 2000 r.p.m.
Lister diesel-engine ST-2 16.2 hp at 2000 r.p.m.
Faryman diesel-engine R-12 15.8 hp at 2000 r.p.m.

Rotary table

For easier handling, the rotation of the casing is done by means of a hydraulically driven rotary table. This table is kept in place by a telescopic torque arm which, at the other end, is anchored to the ground by pins, whereas the hydraulic power is taken from a hydraulic pump which is powered by the same diesel engine as the winch of the rig. The weight of the rotary table with torque arm partly takes over the ramming.

Hydraulic jacks

Withdrawing the casing remains unchanged, however the hollow screw jack is replaced by two hydraulic jacks placed under the rotary table, so that withdrawing the casing can be done by letting the table rotate the casing and jacking up at the same time.

Transport

Easy - with folded mast - preferably behind "Landrover" or pick up truck.

Drilling capacity

For depth of over 40 - 50 m, telescopic drilling is practised; down to 40 m, a 6" casing (165 mm O.D.) is used, inside which a 4" casing (121 mm O.D.) is lowered and drilling is continued upto a maximum depth of approx. 70 m.
A decision to use 8-inch > 6-inch > 4-inch telescopic drilling in order to reach greater depths will, of course, depend on the geological formations.

Use

The BANKA PP - 150 mk2 is used for the investigation of alluvial ore deposits, for foundation testing, site investigation and shallow water-well drilling.
